"Thank you brother for bringing me home otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened to me."

Chand was contacted by a peer educator at Nizamuddin railway station. He was not able to speak clearly but after series of counselling sessions he narrated his story about how he reached Delhi.
He has been playing and riding on a bicycle in Vijayawada, his home town, when he was approached by a man who placed a handkerchief over his face. As a result, he lost consciousness. When he came back to his senses, he found himself locked in a room. He managed to runaway and on reaching the railway station he took a train that brought him to the Nizamuddin Railway Station. He said he was totally lost.

Initially the child was very confused, and had been sleeping here and there. After sleeping at the Drop in Centre on one of the days he had the opportunity to meet with a counsellor. After detailed discussions with Chand, the counsellor found that the child was interested in returning home and with the help of PCI peer educator was reunified with his family.

As soon as the child landed in Vijayawada, he guided the peer educator to his house. When his parents saw him they were stunned. Their joy knew no bounds and they said “Oh my God our child is alive.” They hugged Chand and his family members thanked the peer educator who brought their son back to them. The family had spent over Rs.10,000 in order to search for him.

Chand said, “Shukriya Bhaiyya jo aapne mujhe apne ghar punchadiya warna mere kya hota.” ("Thank you brother for bringing me home otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened to me.")
