Trains, trekking and transforming lives

Trains, trekking and transforming lives

Our Himalayan adventure starts with a direct flight to Delhi for our intrepid adventurers who will have a chance to freshen up before climbing aboard an overnight train to Pathankot. Arriving to the calm contrast of rural northern India, you'll spend the next five days trekking through the foothills of the world's highest mountain range to Dharamsala. The challenging route takes in the local village life and stunning scenery of this pristine and unspoilt corner of the world and includes a chance to visit the home of the Dalai Lama.

What to expect

Participants will be trekking for between five and nine hours each day, and cover terrain including forests, fields, ridges, boulders and rivers to cross. During the expedition, your accommodation will be a mix of hotels, overnight trains and camping along the route. The trek will be run by experienced leaders, medical experts will be on hand throughout and all food during the trip is included. There will be opportunities to ride rickshaws, visit Tibetan monasteries, haggle in local bazaars and most of all, admire the incredible scenery of this largely unvisited area.

The difference your money makes

Once the trek has been completed, and celebrated with a special meal in Dharamsala, you'll return to Delhi to visit a Railway Children project at the station there. You'll have a chance to meet the children whose lives are changed by this kind of fundraising and see the real impact of your support first hand.

The Himalayan Trek is being organised in partnership with Global Adventure Challenges and more information, registration forms, and cost details are on their website - click the register button on the right of this page for the link.
