Megan would have run anywhere and to anyone rather than stay at home

Every 5 minutes a child runs away from home in the UK

Last Christmas Megan’s family fought non-stop - often physically. With an abusive uncle who beat her mum, she felt tense and alone at home. All she wanted was to feel noticed, understood, loved.

One night Megan went missing. She was gone all night. The police found her the next morning - in a bedsit with a man in his forties. Megan was 14.

Railway Children fight for children with nowhere to go and noone to turn to. We made sure it was safe to go back home and then our family worker helped Megan's mum rebuild their family so that she didn’t want to run away again. Today Megan is happy and looking forward to Christmas at home.
