Two wheels or two feet? Choose the charity challenge that’s right for you.

Have you got what it takes to cycle across the country and raise money for vulnerable children? Or would you rather use your own two feet to reach new heights?

Whatever challenge you think you’re ready for – Railway Children has a charity event for you.

Our cycling trips are always popular and this year we’ve introduced a brand new one that is filling up fast. Taking place in September our Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge asks participants to clock up 120km over two days, traversing the UK from Whitehaven to Alston.

You’ll be crossing the Lake District, home to England’s highest mountains and deepest lakes, so those tricky hill climbs will be rewarded with a well-earned lunch before reaching Alston.

Here you’ll have a night to rest and recover before hitting the trail again heading towards Northumberland National Park and the ancient ramparts of Hadrian’s Wall.

The route ventures upwards passing Hadrian’s Wall and finally reaching St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. We’ll provide all the support you need on the way as well as food, accommodation and a life back to the start if you need one. All you need to do is raise a minimum amount of sponsorship to support our work with children around the world – and get training!

Rather put your best foot forward on an international adventure?

If you prefer a challenge of truly epic proportions why not join our Himalayan Trek taking place in October instead? Participants will spend 10 days hiking in the world-famous mountain range after arriving into Delhi and taking an overnight train to Pathankot.

Then you’ll be off into the foothills of the Himalayas towards Da with a chance to visit the home of the Dalai Lama along the way. Trekking for between five and nine hours each day and staying in hotels, overnight trains and camps, all support, food and accommodation is included. Once you have completed the challenge we’ll take you back to Delhi and show you just what a difference your support makes with a visit to a Railway Children project at the station there.

You'll have a chance to meet the children whose lives are changed by this kind of fundraising and see the real impact of your support first hand.
