We are an international charity with national UK reach and strong local relationships.
That means we can combine wide reach with a responsive, place-based approach – whether the challenge is at a major transport hub or a smaller rural station.
What support we offer
We support transport providers through our:
- partnership with the British Transport Police (BTP)
- unique Safeguarding Action Groups (SAGs)
- community engagement work, and
- training and consultancy
Together, these services help transport operators and local partners strengthen safeguarding practice, meet requirements and keep young people at the centre of their response.
Why our safeguarding partnerships work
As a national organisation working at a local level, partnerships are central to our safeguarding work.
Our multi-agency forums combine local insight, lived experience and statutory expertise, helping us respond effectively across both major interchanges and rural networks.
By bringing together rail staff, police, local authorities, businesses and community partners, we create a stronger safeguarding response than any one organisation could deliver alone.

Training and consultancy
We offer tailored training and consultancy for transport operators, shaped around their network, context and safeguarding risks.
Some organisations need focused support for a specific issue. Others benefit from an ongoing programme that builds confidence and consistency across their network.
Developed with BTP and our Youth Ambassadors, our training is grounded in real-world scenarios and lived experience, and:
- supports compliance with the Safeguarding on Rail Scheme
- builds staff confidence in recognising and responding to concerns
- builds stronger, more consistent safeguarding practice across teams
Our consultancy offer is tailored to your organisation, providing practical support to develop, embed and sustain effective safeguarding strategy and practice.
Community engagement
Our Community Engagement Workers operate across the North of England, the Midlands and the South, raising awareness of safeguarding and rail-related risk through:
- delivering sessions in schools, youth groups and to local councils
- working alongside train operating companies to run events and raise awareness
- supporting joint patrols and safeguarding responses with rail staff, security teams and BTP
This frontline presence strengthens safeguarding awareness, supports earlier identification of risk and helps young people get the right support sooner.

Youth Ambassadors
Our Youth Ambassadors know first-hand what it means to be vulnerable on the rail network, and they play an active role in shaping our work.
By co-creating interventions, sharing insight into the challenges young people face and influencing our practice, they help ensure our services – and those of the transport industry – are informed by and for young people.
They have helped develop and deliver mystery shopper safeguarding assessments and contributed to the BTP-commissioned research project Operation Youth Voice, exploring how safe young people feel across the transport network.
