This year, we’re proud to feature in a BBC Radio 4 charity appeal, first broadcast on Sunday, 6th September, to more than a million listeners.

Sangita, a third-generation Tanzanian, left the country as a baby but returned as an adult and was deeply moved by what she saw.
“I left Tanzania before I could build memories of the country,” she says. “But when I visited in 2016, I met young people whose resilience and determination stayed with me. Young people like Juma, whose story I share in Railway Children’s Radio 4 Appeal, who hold onto hope despite overwhelming challenges.”
“That’s why Railway Children’s work matters: it turns hope into reality and helps young people build safe, independent futures. I was honoured to present this appeal, knowing it will help create safer futures for children facing hardships they should never have to endure.”
