Mental health training
Across the UK, around one in five children and young people (aged 8-16) live with a probable mental health disorder. Meanwhile, almost 1 million workers (964,000 people) suffered from work-related stress, depression or anxiety in 2024/25, leading to 22.1 million lost working days. *
We offer fully accredited Mental Health First Aid training at levels 1, 2 and 3 – ranging from awareness sessions that cover half a day to targeted sessions for supporting mental health conditions in the workplace and for young people, as well as more in-depth courses for managers and supervisors.
All sessions are delivered by qualified instructors who have worked within the field for over 15 years.
Each session is tailored to give real-life examples and to link to the context of the transport industry, creating a stronger mental health culture in your workplace and equipping staff to better understand the mental health needs of young people they may come into contact with through their work.
Our courses
There is a minimum requirement for all courses of six people and, for Level 2 and above, maximum numbers will be between 12-16 due to assessment time. Qualifications gained from all courses last three years.
FAA Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), SCQF Level 4

Format: In-person
Course content: This introductory awareness course provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a suspected mental health condition and the skills and expertise to start a conversation and signpost a person towards the right professional help.

FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), SCQF Level 5

Time commitment: 1 day plus assessment
Format: In-person
Course content: Designed to help employers provide a positive mental health culture within the workplace, this course provides learners with comprehensive knowledge on a range of the most common mental health conditions, including misuse of drugs and alcohol, and the skills to respond. Building on the half-day introductory course, this course introduces the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan, equipping learners to provide comprehensive mental health guidance and support, enabling them to become First Aiders for Mental Health within the workplace. This course also provides access to additional resources such as e-learning modules and comprehensive mental health resource banks.

FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health (RQF), SCQF Level 5

Format: In-person
Course content: For anyone who actively connects with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders and young adults, as well as those working in the rail sector. Covering conditions such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying, the course does not equip attendees to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but to gain the knowledge to identify conditions in children and young people and know how to effectively signpost them to support. This course also provides access to additional resources such as e-learning modules and comprehensive mental health resource banks.

FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), SCQF Level 6

Format: In-person
Course content: This course builds on the Level 2/5 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. As well as covering a wider range of mental health conditions, the course goes into detail on the range of therapy and professional support that a person may be given during treatment for a mental health condition. While suitable for anyone within a workplace, the course is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial position with responsibility for implementing a positive mental health culture within an organisation. This course also provides access to additional resources such as e-learning modules and comprehensive mental health resource banks.
